Karen Carpenter died thirty years ago today. No matter what the haters say, she had one of the greatest voices ever in pop music. While I'll admit that the overproduction on The Carpenters albums did her no favors, her vocals are achingly beautiful.
If you've never seen Todd Hayne's Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story watch it now. It is really very touching, but it's also totally illegal, so the video may not be online long.
